Danny Davis Pulls Off Upset at Breck

The first stop of the Winter Dew Tour took place in Breckenridge this past weekend.

Shaun White took first in the slopestyle competition and was positioned to sweep the snowboarding events and take an early lead in the points standings with a first place in superpipe. He had the top qualifying run, so it seemed like he would inevitably find his way to the top of the podium again. But Danny Davis dropped quite a run, as described below:
"Standing before the start corral, Danny Davis, with a smile and a wave to the fans, slid his board towards the pipe and popped 180 over the lip. Dropping Switch? Oh shit… he’s about to change up his run in a big way! Danny exploded into one of the hardest tricks out there — a switch backside 720 — and stomped it. The crowd went insane as Danny strung together a backside 900 with back-to-back 1080s (frontside to cab), before blasting the biggest frontside 900 of the day. His packed run earned him a score of 94.75 bumping fellow FREND member Scotty Lago into second place."
Davis's run earned him the top run, as he pulled off one of the weekend's biggest upsets.

DewMass at Packards in Northampton December 19!

It's that time of year again where all you want to do is cuddle up next to anything warm and drink hot cocoa, and there is good reason to do that especially with the possibly epic snow storm coming in tomorrow. Perhaps you have also been planning on hibernating until the Winter Dew Tour up at Mount Snow January 8-11, but I give you good reasons to put on a heavy jacket, and maybe some pants.

We the people of DewMass from the Sports Management department at UMass will be at Packards in Northampton tomorrow December 19 from 9-11:30pm promoting the Dew Tour at Mount Snow.

There will be a panorama of things to such as choosing your fate by spinning the raffle wheel of destiny for a chance to win Dew Tour bandanas, snowboard bottle openers, and the always popular Carinthia/Dew Tour tee's. We will also have a raffle for lift tickets to Mount Snow, and coasters and stickers for everyone.

We will also be putting on another frozen t-shirt contest for everyone to watch the unlucky few that have to try and get a t-shirt on that has been frozen for half a day.

Samuel Adams will be there with us giving away awesome fleece jackets and will also have a $3.50 drink special where you get to keep the cup!

Be there or be bored!

p.s. Packards is located at 14 Masonic St, Northampton, MA 01060 (Google Maps Link)
