Getting to Know: Winter Dew Tour

The AST Dew Tour just wrapped its fourth annual summer tour two weeks ago in Orlando. AST was the first action sports tour of its kind, with five major events spanning the course of five months over the summer. The summer tour encompasses three disciplines: Skate, BMX, and FMX. Athletes compete in individual events over the five-month period and earn points leading up to the awarding the Dew Cup. Kind of like NASCAR for cool kids.

Here are your 2008 Dew Cup Champions: (Access the complete standings here.)
  • Skate Vert: Pierre-Luc Gagnon
  • Skate Park: Chaz Ortiz
  • BMX Vert: Jamie Bestwick
  • BMX Park: Daniel Dhers
  • BMX Dirt: Cameron White
  • FMX: Adam Jones

This winter, AST is launching their first-ever winter tour. There will be three stops:
  • Dec. 18-21: Breckenridge Ski Resort (Breckenridge, Colorado)
  • Jan. 8-11: Mount Snow Resort (West Dover, Vermont)
  • Feb. 19-22: Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort (Lake Tahoe, California)

  • Look for some of the biggest names in winter sports to be shredding it up here at Mount Snow in January. The event is free to attend, so get stoked. The day is nearing...

    Getting to Know: DewMass Marketing

Time to introduce one of the major entities involved here, DewMass Marketing. In order to successfully get the word out about this event, Mount Snow recruited a group of students from the University of Massachusetts Sport Management Department to work with them. This group of 14 students makes up DewMass Marketing, an agency working to stir up excitement for the Winter Dew Tour here on the East Coast.

Throughout the next two months, DewMass Marketing will be periodically updating their activities to let you know what events are coming up in the area, and will provide an inside look at their workings for any potential marketing enthusiasts out there.

AST and Mount Snow Enter the Blogoshpere

If you haven't heard the news yet, the AST Dew Tour - one of the biggest names in action sports events - is launching a winter series this December. And they have chosen Mount Snow, Vermont to host the January branch of the tour.

Mount Snow will be the ONLY stop on the East Coast this year, and the event will be FREE to attend. That's right. Free. So come out and show the AST Dew Tour what the East Coast is all about.

    AST Winter Dew Tour Schedule:
  • December 18-21: Breckenridge Ski Resort, Colorado
  • January 8-11: Mount Snow, Vermont
  • February 19-22: Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort, California

In preparation of this huge event, Mount Snow, the AST Dew Tour, and DewMass Marketing are joining forces to provide you in-depth blogging on the inner workings of the Tour. Look for news, updates, stories, upcoming promotions, multimedia and so much more over the next few months.

  • UMass, Football, and One Giant Van

This weekend, Mount Snow rolled out their all new SWAT van (that's it in the back!) and hit up UMass-Amherst for some tailgating action on Homecoming weekend.

Kids were introduced to "Cornhole" - a sweet beanbag-tossing game from the Midwest. Of course, prizes were given out, including Mount Snow lift tickets.

Speaking of which, Mount Snow is now open. At least the Launch Pad - a freestyle terrain area - is. And it's open to the public. For free. Details here.
